6th Grade Orientation DATE CHANGE

Reported by on 4/20/18

Dear Families of Incoming 6th Grade Students,

We, at Fischer, are extremely excited to welcome you to our school and make the transition from 5th to 6th grade smooth for all of our students and their families. While we had planned to host our annual Incoming 6th Grade Parent Orientation Night for families of current 5th grade students on April 26, 2018, we are now going to need to change the date of this event due to some unforeseen circumstances. Our new date for this orientation program will be May 16, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 P.M.

During Incoming 6th Grade Parent Orientation Night, parents will have the opportunity to hear and ask questions about all aspects of middle school life. We will have many teacher representatives on hand to share their insights and perspectives as well as our amazing student leaders who hold tremendous expertise in what it takes to succeed in middle school. We hope that you will be able to join us for this event.

Our other upcoming transition activities in the 5th to 6th grade transition process include the following....

-Guidance counselors and Mrs. Smith, Assistant Principal will be going out to Steck, McCarty, and Georgetown Elementary Schools to talk with the students and answer questions.

-Fifth grade students from Steck, McCarty, and Georgetown Elementary Schools will be coming to Fischer for a short time during the regular school day to see what a regular school day looks like from lockers to classes to passing time to lunch.

-Prior to school beginning in August, we will be hosting a 6th Grade Open House for students and parents to give schedules, locker assignments, technology tips, etc. Just as our high schools have implemented readiness days, Fischer Middle School is going to have a 6th Grade Readiness Day.

We recognize that the transition to middle school can be both an exciting time and an anxious time. I want to assure you that we are here to help, and we are so happy for our incoming 6th grade students and their families to be a part of our Fischer Middle School family.
