FMS Boy Soccer Wins 2018 Conference Championship!!!
On Thursday, October 25th, the Fischer Falcons met the Hill Trailblazers for the 2018 Boys Soccer Championship. Fischer entered the playoffs ranked 6th in conference with a regular season record of 2-8-2, while Hill was ranked 1st with a record of 10-2-0. To reach the finals, Fischer had victories over the 3rd and 2nd place teams, while Hill had a first round bye and beat the 4th place team.
Midway through the first half of the championship match, Fischer scored from a nicely placed free kick from Yahir Rodriguez, put in by Angel Gallegos. Coming out of halftime, Hill would not be denied, and scored two goals, putting them in the lead. As time was running out, Yahir placed an outside strike into the net to tie the game.
Both teams played with great pride and effort in the overtime periods, however no more goals were tallied. By rule, the game went into penalty kicks to determine the winner. There were great shots and a few misses, that led to a 2-2 tie, when a Hill player's strike was stopped by Fischer goalkeeper Abrahm Tiburcio. Each team scored another PK, leaving Fischer's Adolfo Perez as the final player to shoot. He placed the ball into the left side of the goal and the Falcons won the championship.
Congratulations to the 2018 Conference Champion Fischer Falcons!!!
